IN FOCUS: THERMAL IP CAMERAS BY GRUNDIG SECURITY

The new thermal cameras GU-TI-AP4603E/T and GU-TI-AP4607E/T from the NDAA-compliant SMART Line by GRUNDIG Security combine thermal and optical IP technology in a single device. This provides reliable detection even in complete darkness, smoke, fog or strong backlight – ideal for perimeter protection, early fire detection and use in security-critical areas.

With a thermal resolution of 256 x 192 and an optical 5 MP sensor (2592 x 1944), the cameras capture both temperature differences and fine details in the visible spectrum. AI-based object classification, active deterrence and temperature measurement up to 550 °C make them flexible building blocks for professional video and security systems.

Highlights at a glance

  • Dual thermal and optical camera – 256 x 192 thermal sensor plus 5 MP IP camera for maximum evaluation within a single installation
  • AI-powered video analytics – object classification for people and vehicles, extensive smart events and deep-learning algorithms (excluding licence plate recognition)
  • Active deterrence – integrated white or red/blue strobe light and user-definable voice messages for active deterrence directly at the camera
  • Temperature measurement and fire detection – measurement range from -20 °C to 550 °C, accuracy ±3 °C / 3 %, including fire detection and extensive alarm rules
  • Two focal lengths, two form factors – 3.2 mm / 7 mm IR optics as compact eyeball version (E) or as bullet camera (T) with IR ranges up to 50 m
  • Robust outdoor design – IP67 rating, NEMA 4X depending on model, 5-year warranty on electronic components and NDAA-compliant SMART Line platform

Dual view – thermal and optical in a single camera

All four models feature a thermal module with 256 x 192 pixels and an optical 1/2.7" CMOS sensor with 5 MP resolution (2592 x 1944). This makes temperature differences visible, while the optical camera provides markings, structures and environmental details. Both channels can be used, streamed and recorded in parallel – including picture-in-picture display of the thermal channel in the optical full image.

The models GU-TI-AP4603E and GU-TI-AP4603T offer a wide thermal field of view of 56° x 42° with a 3.2 mm IR focal length and are particularly suitable for area monitoring at short to medium distances. The cameras GU-TI-AP4607E and GU-TI-AP4607T with a 7 mm IR focal length provide a narrower field of view (25° x 18.7°) and are optimised for longer ranges and focused scenarios.

AI analytics and active deterrence

The integrated AI uses deep-learning algorithms to reliably distinguish between people, motorised and non-motorised vehicles and significantly reduce false alarms caused by environmental influences. Supported features include line crossing, intrusion detection, area monitoring, object removal, unattended baggage, heatmap, queue and crowd analysis as well as face detection – almost all familiar SMART Line AI functions (with the exception of licence plate recognition).

In combination with active deterrence, detected events can be responded to directly on site:

  • White or red/blue strobe light with adjustable flashing frequency
  • Integrated loudspeaker with pre-defined or customer-specific voice messages
  • Acoustic warnings, e.g. in case of VCA events or temperature violations

This transforms classic video surveillance into an active system for deterrence and intervention.
